The Beginnings of UnAd on Chrome

I currently am starting work on porting UnAd, a Jetpack feature, to Google Chrome’s addon system. I’m not succeeding, but eventually I will. If you want to help, and have functional git, and the latest Development build of Chrome, just comment with your github username and I’ll gladly add you as a contributor.

Here’s the project page.

The spammers on Twitter come back.

I have noticed that spammers are coming back on Twitter. This morning, I woke up to 4 spammers that started following me. All had the same username style: First Name+Last Initial+Year of Birth.

So that leads me to beleive that it was all coming from one spammer.

I hope that the spammers just STOP. I don’t want to protect my updates.

Why Virus Software Sucks

All virus software sucks. Here’s some reasons why I think Virus software sucks.

  • Major programs delete files that they think have a virus and they don’t let you undelete them and “trust” them.
  • All of the programs hog resources, but Norton is the best at managing resources.
  • Scan time is important to me, I don’t want to wait hours to see whether I have a virus, Norton is good with this too.

That’s pretty much it for this post, so Symantec, please listen to me because I like your products and if you made these tweaks, I’d love ‘em.

Downfall to Offline Gmail in the browser

I like being able to have Offline Gmail in my browser, it simplifies my routine, I don’t have to have a sperate window or application for all my emails. One thing is that as I type this, Firefox 3.0.8’s memory usage with 5 tabs, one being Gmail, one being my homepage on Facebook, another being a Facebook app, one being Twitter, and then the new post page on Tumblr, is about 186,500K according to Windows Task Manager. This is insane, but thankfully there’s some changes in Firefox 3.5 that decrease memory usage and increase JavaScript performance (nanojit increases performance.) So I’m thinking about taking that leap and going back to doing the 1.9.1 tree nightlies so I get a more efficient browser.

I hate fail grammar & especially fail spelling.

I hate fail grammar and fail spelling. The spelling part is worse because these days, about every web browser, except for the worst one, has built-in spell check. Grammar still perturbs me, but it’s not as unacceptable as fail spelling. Take these two Twitter posts.

  1. “happy im get soft where” should be “Happy I’m getting free software” (This is all based around that I gave @krenzzer access to M$ DreamSpark)
  2. “is chilling” should be “Just chilling in Portland” (yes I know where @krenzzer was, I know him in real life.)

The guy is sorta mentally disabled, but I still don’t think that I should see this awful grammar on Twitter. It’s terrible.

Sorry, Levi, I had to make my point that I must correct everything, and it’s better when people don’t make errors in the first place.

It’s the end of the Internet, EveryDNS is down.

EveryDNS is down, so github is imageless and scriptless. But fear not, github’s crew has posted a fix on Twitter. Twitter will survive for how much longer with this massive spike of traffic? I blame this on M$.

Update: 18:06 PDT EveryDNS is back, and Github switched DNS providers. Hopefully this doesn’t happen again.

Yay for Twitter getting rid of spammers!

I am getting too many spam followers. Thankfully, Twitter is now cracking down on these spammers. Hopefully I will not have to deal with them ever again.

Finally Learning Git

I’m finally learning how to use Git, as it is actually really nice. Github, is especially nice, infact I am using Github to serve some content for my Tumblr theme, right now just the Intense Debate CSS.

FRC Portland Regional: Day 3

Day 3 started quickly because the FMS problems were being fixed before we were even let into the venue. Day 3 finished off the Qualifiers, and then gave the finals.

The Quarter Finals showed many redos due to loss of communication with robots. Things cleared up in the Semi-finals, and we got to move into the finals.

In the Finals, we went up against the #1 seed. Unfortunately we lost, but we still got 2nd place. Congrats to the Lake Monsters, Skunkworks and Issaquah, hope you do well in Atlanta, and hopefully we’ll see you there. =)

As I write this, we’re on I-5 heading north to get home.

(Posted when I got home and in bed though)

FRC Portland Regional: Day 2

Day 2 started off with guess what? You guessed it, FMS problems. Second match had to be redone twice, the 24th match 4 times, and the 27th three times. We still have 9 matches to go in Qualification. We currently are 16th place. We ended up winning the Xerox Creativity Award. Due to technical complications, I was not able to stream. =(

Hopefully I will be able to stream live video, even if it’s crap resolustion.

FRC Portland Regional: Day 1 Part 2

After taking some time off at the hotel we headed back to the Coliseum. Guess what? The Field Managment System (FMS) crashed. We waited over 2 hours for them to fix the FMS. Finally, the FMS was fixed and we got not even a full practice match. We then had to find food and we stopped at McDonalds.

That’s about it for tonight.

FRC Portland Regional: Day 1

Day 1 has been good but our robot kind of FAILED when we put it on the field. The robot just freaked out and the code didn’t get deployed. So we got no practice. That’s a huge let down. Thankfully, the hotel has been nice except for the $9.95 Internet that can be gotten around (connect in the Lobby! connect in the Lobby!).

I will stream at http://www.justin.tv/tahoma2046 tomorrow.

A sweet plan for Sweetcron that’s simmering in my brain

I really think I should get some real servers and start offering cheap Sweetcron hosting (I know how to set up Sweetcron, I have done it twice). I assume that yongfook would be happy (if you didn’t know, yongfook is the developer of Sweetcron) but I could be wrong.

You may not even know what Sweetcron is. But do you care? If so, check out http://www.sweetcron.com/. Sweetcron is really nice, and the same Markdown syntax used here on Tumblr can be used on Sweetcron.

I want to create hosting for Sweetcron because it’s not simple and straight forward and has a few hitches.
